The audience here are the most toughest critics, but general public will appreciate the changes.
I personally see nothing wrong with making software look like a real thing. It's one of the most natural user interfaces because people know how to use books, paper, and folder tabs.
The problem with making iCal look like the real thing (in this case a leather bound calendar) is that brown leather bound calendars are hideous! :eek:
I can't believe that the same company that hires Jonathan Ives to design such sleek, 60s modern hardware, can show such incredibly "bling" taste on the GUI design front.

Safe to say at this point we will have to wait. Man, I had that upgrade waiting. But then again, what's another three months to wait from the usual release date?

Leaders. they did what everyone else was scared to do with smartphones (no stylus) and took the jump into a dead segment (tablets) and they went about it well and reaped the rewards. now johnny come lateley (goog) has come in with the "ours is almost as good but for FREE" and have roped in many marginally satisfied adopters. android's every success is a tribute to its forerunner and DADDY, apple, who still does it best and wont relinquish that fact ever because they Lead the entire industry in all things and they lead well. stop being so butthurt about it and raise your glass to the best. APPL!

Can someone confirm there isn't going to be a to-do list in Lion? This is ridiculous!
Before I scare everyone, maybe I need to get my facts straight... is there one? I certainly couldn't find any on the iOS version, which is why I bought a program called Todo (by Appigo) to handle that functionality on my iPad. Since I'm on the go far more often than I'm at my desk, this is where I've been keeping my to-do items. That and Google Calendar.
So I guess what I'm really asking for is integrated to-do list support on the iOS calendar.

I'm honestly surprised by a lot of you. The whole "no single android phone outsells the iPhone!" argument, is foolish and weak. It's a platform war. You basically get ONE CHOICE with the iPhone. Now it's a great choice, but of course it's going to be a top seller as a result. There are so many good Android choices out there that a single model isn't going to dwarf the others. Since there are, you know, options? As a platform it seems iOS is getting whooped on. Does that not register, or are people that much in denial?
Now myself, I like my iPhone, but come on...in this case we are talking about platforms...So weird...

Meanwhile I'm enjoying a flawless iPhone experience on my CDMA iPhone 4. ;)
I upgraded to 4.2.7 four hours ago and my battery has gone down from 52% to 48% (with moderate usage). So.. yeah. Pretty much unchanged at this point. :D

good to see the high end iMac has a more respectable GPU this time. thunder bolt this, thunder bolt that. If I got it, I probably won't put it to use for a long while. My 2010 i5 Quad is still kickin' speedily so I'll just wait for another 2 years till there's a freshly designed iMac. I'm most impressed with the GPU upgrade this time around. 256bit/1 or 2 gig DDR5. That's pretty sweet.

Of course, and I meant that in the 'general sense'. I have long since abandoned the use of Classic on any of my OS X Macs or any of the Macs I support. AppleTalk is so deprecated that I can hardly believe that anyone will be able to use it much longer. In fact, I wouldn't be shocked if it was completely absent from 10.5.

I am actually referring to enabling it for network communication with my Quadra 840av, LC 575, and other older systems that I boot into system 7 or even OS 8. Granted the need for Appletalk in those situations can be substituted for TCP/IP, AT appears to be more stable with those older systems.
Which makes it even MORE odd that it's enabled by default in MacTels, which don't run Classic. :confused:

Parallels sucks but until now its been the only REAL game in town. Boo hoo I'm not paying for an app that IMHO is half baked to begin with. :rolleyes: At least I'm not outright going in search of a seral number and pirating the thing. Again its a tide me over until VM gets their butt in gear and releases this thing.
Ahh ok - so if I dont like something then I dont have to pay for it? $80 for an app that, by your own admission, you are using all day every day doesnt sound a lot whether you like the app or not.

Nice idea and interesting. best bet would be a collaboration with Panasonic. After all since Pioneer stopped production of the best flast screen TVs ever and Panasonic employing those engineers who got laid of from Pioneer, their new 2011 panels are simply the best platform for it. if they put it into a Samsung or alike then no thanks. panny s are reasonably priced.
I could see something like that where Apple TV and games are integrated into a high-end set. Would love for someone to own this space and clean up all of these damn black boxes. Of course, they may have to cave in use Blu-Ray somehow.

I dont know what people see in the Mighty Mouse, I tried one out in a local computer shop and found it VERY frustrating to use.
same here, but i expect they'll make improvements. i'll probably get one if i end up with a proper desk.
