I originally waited for the white version (back when it was only delayed until "late summer".) but once September rolled around, I just decided to wait until the 5 came out. With the rumors of the 5 being delayed until fall, I might have to seriously consider some backup plans. I'd prefer to stick with an iPhone, but the 3GS is getting long in the tooth and I will not sign a contract for outdated hardware.
It's not really outdated in the sense that it is still the best and latest iPhone out there. But I know what you are getting at.

You must have seen a lot of people having fits to be able to make such a confident judgement. Personally, having only lived with a severe epileptic in the household for nine years, I would unhesitatingly defer to you expertise. What do I know?
We can't have an opinion (which is shared by others) it seems. Yeah, what exactly do you know?

What will Apple offer that other manufactures can't?
A robust and thriving App Store.
The App Store will legitimize the Apple TV set.
I would go so far as to suggest the reason we don't have an App Store on the current Apple TV is because Apple is saving it as the compelling reason to buy an entire TV set.
Apple doesn't have to provide the reasons to buy the Apple TV set. Developers will do that for them. In the hundreds of thousands.
Pretty soon you won't be switching channels. You'll be switching apps.
My 2 cents.
Apple already has the ability to provide this by using :apple:TV2. Even when priced at $99 Apple is making money on each unit sold. And a software update can easily add support for iOS apps. I simply do not see Apple releasing their own Television when they can simply offer a new service on existing devices.

Uh please.
Google has done a helluva lot to Android since they bought it. Android is unrecognisable now to what it was in 05. They have simply bought a brand name to get their product popular.
In other words, you are talking rubbish sir. Stop accusing people of trolling, when they are simply telling it how it is.
Google done HELLUVA work after Schmidt got onto the board of directors of Apple and got all the details he needed to copy every single thing?
Google fanboiis fail to see the reality how it is. Truth hurts.

Kinda takes away from that whole "Simplicity is everything" slogan Apple is known for, doesn't it? While I'll reserve my judgments on the design until it's worked into a final product, it does look like the user needs to take unnecessary steps to actually use the click wheel. Then again, pictures (drawings) probably can't do the interface justice.

Hahaha,
Even if the chip was available, Apple would not use it. They would prefer to have it's customers buy a 3G phone, then have a need/want to buy the 4G in less than 2 years.
His name is Steve Jobs and he approves of this logic.

I really like the teardrop design of this iPhone. Not too sure what to think about the gesture based home button. Could be a hit or a flop...can hardly wait to see a demo if this is the real deal. But like with all rumours, chances are it's not real.

Apple fans will be interested to see that companies are starting to finally introduce Thunderbolt-compatible devices into the market.
Yeah they're FINALLY introducing products. These peripheral companies have apparently been sitting on their hands doing nothing since this brand-new technology was released 6 weeks ago. I mean how hard is it to procure this new part, redesign the insides of your equipment, recreate your cases to accommodate a new port, and submit it to a battery of tests?

I agree. I like MS strategy. They want to get their foot in the door and compete, then sell you all kinds of other ish. Look at the XBOX/XBOX 360, they may sell them at a loss, but with the Software, XBOX Live, and the Marketplace, they are making their money.
31,100,000,000 is alot of stamina too, I remember when m$oft got in the gaming console business there was a lot of this talk, now look at them, they sell the thing for a loss. Now imagine if they did that for the zune, a 60gb video capable for $150.00. Something to think about.........

Oh well life is all about risks
Well, we can only hope that they've been a bit more sufficiently tested. Also, if the enclosure and internals haven't changed much, most of the issues should be out of the way. Yes, EVEREYTHING is a risk. :)

We disagree.
Polis, who said she had a sex-change operation to become a woman
I'm going to ask a dumb question here: if the victim had already undergone the surgery, then how could the perpetrators know the victim was genetically male? I'm not trying to be snarky, but there's a logical disconnect, unless I'm missing something.

 Whatever. I'm not NDA police. Pirate all you want. Just don't be pissed when people don't post the changelog RIGHTAWAYS.
Who says I pirated anything? All I was trying to say, is that it really gets tiring to see this back and forth every time any preview comes out. We all know that people have to agree to not disclose things. We all also know that most people ignore that requirement. It doesn't do any good to remind anyone of non-disclosure agreements. People are going to talk about it anyway. Just saying...

Another huge update... Apple should test their updates better.
In Apple's defence, we should probably point out that iOS is under hacker attack much more than the Android and Windows 7 systems.
When somebody tells you how to root your Galaxy S, Google just generally doesn't give a damn. When somebody reveals an exploit for iOS that equates to a potential security problem, Apple starts moving immediately to decide whether or not it is an important security problem and if it is, they'll patch it as quickly as reasonable.
I have tried and tried to look at and like Android devices...take it from me, your iPhone is still the best. Don't worry about it and just take the updates for what they are worth.

Wow.
Actually, the reason I NEVR got a mobile phone until the iPhone came out is the dropped-call rate for my friends in NYC. Who were on Sprint, as it happened. Their experience was so poor that it kept me on land lines for decades :o
Luckily I get almost no dropped calls with my iPhone--but I'm not in NYC!

Don't know if this has been posted elsewhere, but Apple's pc share has grown to 6.1% in the US; we trail by 0.3 percentage points for third place.
10% is in sight. Perhaps by the end of 2007!

Selling loss leaders is a very common retail tactic and is used by just about everyone (including Apple).
Very true.
Apple sells cheap songs in hopes that you'll buy an iPod.
Amazon sells even cheaper songs... ???... profit?

1. Professional conferences cost that much.
2. Apple sends 1000 of their engineers that you can talk with. Who is Google sending? How accessible are they?
3. WWDC is more days.
Number 2 above is one of the reasons that it would be difficult to move to a larger venue. It might accommodate more people, but the real value is getting to talk with Apple engineers and ask questions. If they made the venue larger, your chances of getting to talk with them becomes slim. It's a tough problem to solve.
It is Apple. Number 2 is not the reason. Chances are moving it to another venue would cost more money which means less profit.
Google is more than likely just trying to cover cost. Apple is going to try to make a profit.

I currently have a black 3GS, and have been waiting since day 1 for the white iPhone 4. I will buy this immediately.
Since iPhone 5 will probably just be a spec bump and maybe a little bigger screen, I'm not all that concerned about it.

Of course since jailbreaks only happen because of security holes. So I hope Apple closes up security holes even if it means jailbreaking breaks. While I'd like Apple to make it possible to jailbreak easier I won't begrudge them this approach.
It's funny. It's like the jailbreakers are doing Apple's job for them by finding these security holes.

That's a very nice spin you put on it there ;)
You actually gave the exact reason why the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS sell more than any android phone. Android offers you so many more choices, that there is no way any single one of them would sell as many units as the two options you have for a phone with iOS.
If by spin, you mean "reporting of facts without any opinion injected at all", then yes.
Here's an opinion: You don't have the foggiest grasp of economics.
