I don't know, it's been on all aluminum models since 2003. After all these years Apple decided no one really wanted it? (A lot of people on these forums obviously wouldn't agree with that).
To save battery life? You can turn it off if you want. Problem solved.
The other models most obviously have more room for it. The Macbook Air doesn't, and Apple probably decided it wasn't worth bothering with for this model. For the other models with a lot more space, no reason not to if the space is there. But once you run into space constraints it is pretty easy to peg as one of the first things to be cut out.

More RAM for my Mac Pro as well as 2 * 500GB HDDs to fill up some of its internal bays, as well as a Snowboarder and just to keep my vintage Mac collection going, Id love a PowerMac G5 with a nice 22/23" ADC Cinema Display... (this also includes my 18th Birthday presents since Im at Uni, so wont be getting my presents for a little while)

I don't know if you know how math works, but there are no discounts for not having a subsidy. You don't factor in the cost of service, that is not relevant. You will pay that regardless of the handset device. My regular iPhone would cost that.

For people buying an expensive smartphone getting the 3GS is a good deal. Notice how they sell more of them then any other smartphone besides the iPhone 4, even when Android handset makers give away their product.

And, you don't get an 3GS for $50 for an $10/month additional line. You need to pay for a real plan for that. And the least expensive would still net you more per month than you paid up front for the 3GS.

Oh well... It's obvious it was a mistake. I'm glad they're getting a refund. Let's just hope that Apple doesn't screw the developer over on it (ie. take out their 30% cut and then expect the developer to foot the $1000 refund) like they did when they pulled GV Mobile from the App Store.

No its not, its old hardware and knowing apple after 2 years the iOS support isnt going to last for very long. Seeing its only 100 under the iphone 4 price with less disc space its really only for those people who desperatly want an apple phone but cant spend that extra 100 . But for those people no doubt there are plenty of very good and cheaper alternatives.

No freakin thanks. Its already hard enough to control the touch sensitive orange ipod because its so "touchy." It would literally be impossible to use the ipod without looking with an interface like that, driving with an ipod would go from dangerous to suicidal. Its not the least bit practical and would just be a gimmick.
Its just an all around NO for me. One hand control would be a pain, no-look control would be impossible, the learning curve would take awhile to get used to because it would be the first thing with controls like that, no cases, pretty much no everything. Bad idea.

Yeah... you have to sell products to make money... but nothing says you have to have the most market share in order to make money.
Let's say Android gets 35% of the market... and Apple only has 25% of the market...
Apple still can sell 20 million iPhones in a quarter and makes a crap-ton of money doing it. That's what I've been saying all along!
Read my other comments here and elsewhere... I HATE market share arguments. It infuriates me every time there is a headline saying "Android beats Apple" and "Android Grows while Apple Stalls"
It's crazy to compare the two anyway... Apple and Google have completely different business models.
My next phone will be an iPhone... I don't care if Android phones outsell the iPhone 2-to-1

All I can say is, "Thank God." Near term I get rid of tons of cables -- I have seven attached to my MBP on my desktop right now (external monitor, FW800 for external drive, Ethernet, FW400 for scanner, USB for keyboard, USB for printer, and audio out to external speakers). Long-term it is possible Thunderbolt will enable changes we can't envision right now.
My only issue is the name "Thunderbolt" and the weird lightening bolt (that to date has always meant "touch this an you die from electrocution"). Light Peak was nearly perfect IMHO. Oh well, I'm guessing some committee group came up with this.
How are you going to reduce the number of cables? It seems like you would still need the same number of cables.

Actually Nasdaq is an index, not a trading cite. The NYSE is an exchange (much like one we'd find in London, Tokyo, etc). What Apple is not listed under is the Dow 30 (commonly referred to only as "the Dow" or "Dow Jones Industrial Average"), which lists the 30 largest companies of the US based on industry and importance (current ones include WalMart, GE, CitiGroup, etc).

How would an operating system KNOW it is being run in virtualization? It cannot determine the difference from a real computer. We are talking about Vista like it is an artificial intelligence of some kind.

If you only have 4 cores and I have 8 that isn't very much of a difference even taking into account the mhz discrepency. It might be worth trying to see if my 920 would be ok at stock speed with bigadv units.
well at stock speed it takes my 920 about 43 min per frame. Not bad, but I think that barely gets a bonus. But it is definitely worth it though

I hope microsoft has the name 'iBox' trademarked.. wouldn't want apple to ever make an iBox...I know that's facetious, but I agree. I'd rather avoid brand confusion. I still remember having a hard time convincing an elderly friend that her piece of crap computer was not an Apple iMac, it was an eMachine.
